Subscription Pause for Your Deutschlandticket
As a Deutschlandticket subscription customer of PaderSprinter, we offer you a customer-friendly and flexible option to request a subscription pause.
The request for a subscription pause can be made until the 10th calendar day of the previous month. The number of subscription pauses is unlimited; however, only full calendar months and a maximum of 3 consecutive months can be requested.
You can apply for the subscription pause online or in person at our customer service center.

Frequently Asked Questions about the Deutschlandticket
When will the Deutschlandticket be available?
The federal and state governments have agreed that the Deutschlandticket will be valid from May 1st, 2023. The nationwide pre-sale of tickets has been running since April 3rd, 2023.
How much should the Germany ticket cost?
The Germany ticket costs €49.00 per month. It is offered digitally by subscription and can be canceled on a monthly basis.
Where is the ticket valid and where not?
The Deutschlandticket is valid nationwide on all buses, city trains, trams and underground trains as well as on all local trains (regional trains and regional express trains) and S-Bahn trains. The ticket is not valid for long-distance transport (ICE, IC, EC) or for private providers (e.g. Flixtrain). In addition, with the Deutschlandticket you can only use 2nd class on local trains. The use of 1st class is excluded.
How and where do I get the Deutschlandticket?
If you would like to order your Germany ticket, you have the following options:

Do I have to cancel my existing subscription to switch to the new ticket?
If you wish to switch to the Deutschlandticket, you can register online on our homepage and switch as follows:
In the order form, you then select that you already have a valid subscription with us, enter your AboTicket number and complete the rest of the ordering process. Complete! We will then contact you by post to complete the cancellation of the existing subscription. You don’t have to do anything else.
You can then continue to use your existing subscription until your Germany ticket begins to be valid. Payment is also only made when your ticket begins to be valid, either by PayPal, SEPA direct debit or credit card. The financial company LogPay Financial Services GmbH collects the payment for the Deutschlandticket.
At the start of your Germany ticket, simply give us your remaining subscription tokens back. This can be done by post to PaderSprinter GmbH, Barkhauser Str. 6, 33106 Paderborn or in person at our customer center at the Westernmauer (bus stop: Westerntor).
How can the Deutschlandticket be canceled?
In the event of cancellation, the Deutschlandticket is valid until the end of business after the end of the last day of this calendar month, but no longer than 3:00 a.m. of the following day.
Chip card:
The chip card must be canceled by the 10th of the month to the end of the respective calendar month. The cancellation can be made online, by email (abo@padersprinter.de), by post (PaderSprinter GmbH, Barkhauser Str. 6, 33106 Paderborn) or in person at the customer center.
Online ticket:
The online ticket can be canceled at any time – up to the last day of the calendar month – in the online shop at https://abo.ride-ticketing.de/app/login?partnerId=Lzbyh1qZ0ZWCLkV5mudl_pader.
Why is my existing subscription not displayed in the ticket shop customer account?
Your existing subscription is not linked to the ticket shop and therefore cannot be accessed there. If you want to change your subscription to the Deutschlandticket, you must select in the order form that you already have a valid subscription with us, enter your AboTicket number and complete the rest of the ordering process. Complete! We will then take care of everything else and send you a confirmation of cancellation by post. You don’t have to do anything else.
What should I do if I want to keep my current subscription?
If you would like to continue using your current subscription and not switch to the Deutschlandticket, you do not have to do anything else. Your existing subscription will simply continue and the corresponding monthly amount will be debited from your account as usual. There is also no price adjustment to €49.00 per month.
Will people and bicycles be taken along?
The Deutschlandticket does not allow people to be taken along. Children under the age of 7 who are not yet going to school travel free on the buses and trains in NRW when accompanied by a person with a valid ticket. The number of children traveling with you is not limited. People over the age of 6 who go to school need their own (Germany) ticket.
Taking bicycles with you is also not included in the Deutschlandticket. An additional bicycle ticket is required for this.
If you have agreed on take-along regulations in your existing subscription, these cannot be transferred when switching to the Deutschlandticket.
What applies to taking dogs with you?
According to the conditions of carriage, dogs can be taken along in NRW free of charge. The Conditions of Carriage will continue to apply. For journeys beyond NRW, however, the respective regulations of the transport associations apply.
Is the Deutschlandticket transferrable?
No, the Deutschlandticket is not transferable. The ticket can only be used by one specific person. A transfer to other people is therefore not possible
Will children have their own ticket?
No, there is no discount or a separate Germany ticket for children. Children under the age of 7 who are not yet going to school generally travel free on buses and trains in NRW when accompanied by a person with a valid ticket. The number of children traveling with you is not limited. People over the age of 6 who go to school, on the other hand, need their own (Germany) ticket.
What effects does the ticket have on the other fare offers?
Our entire range of tickets will remain the same until further notice. The subscription offers are also still available, as the subscriptions offer additional benefits such as transferability or portability. The electronic tariff “eezy Westfalen” will remain in place even after the introduction of the Deutschlandticket, because “eezy Westfalen” is primarily aimed at passengers who occasionally use the bus and train.
Is the Deutschlandticket also valid for the use of night buses?
With the Deutschlandticket you can also use our PaderSprinter night buses.
Can I take out the Deutschlandticket in a month that has already started?
Online ticket:
The Deutschlandticket can be ordered online at any time. There is no processing time and the ticket is available immediately. Please note that the ticket then also costs €49.00 and is calculated in full for the month. It runs until the end of the month that has already started and is automatically extended until it is cancelled.
Chip card:
The chip card is only valid on the 1st of a month and can therefore not be taken out for a month that has already started. The order must be in by the 15th of the previous month.
Can a ticket also be purchased for another person (e.g., children under 18)?
Yes, that is possible. In the first step after selecting the ticket to purchase, you designate the ticket holder, which can also be someone under 18.
In the following step, the billing recipient’s information is entered. This can differ from the ticket holder’s details. In this way, you can purchase the ticket for another person.
Is there an additional charge for 1st class throughout NRW?
Yes, for NRW-wide 1st class use, there is the NRWupgrade 1st Class. The subscription costs €69 per month. It is cancellable monthly, has no minimum contract term, and is valid for a calendar month. The NRWupgrade 1st Class is valid for a specific person and cannot be transferred to others.
Which Bicycle Ticket Options Are Available?
For taking a bicycle along with you, you can choose from the following ticket options. Please note that bicycle transport is only valid within the specific coverage area of each bicycle ticket.
WestfalenTarif
- For bicycle transport within the WestfalenTarif, there is the “FahrradTagesTicket24” for the entire Westfalen network. This allows you to transport a bicycle for unlimited rides throughout the WestfalenTarif area for 24 hours from the ticket’s activation. The FahrradTagesTicket24 is valid on all public transportation within the WestfalenTarif area (buses, trams, and regional trains). Price: €3.10.
- Additionally, there is the “30 TageTicket Fahrrad” and the “FahrradAbo,” each priced at €26.30. These options allow unlimited bicycle transport for 30 days or one month, respectively, across all public transportation within the WestfalenTarif area (buses, trams, and regional trains).
NRW
- For bicycle transport within North Rhine-Westphalia, there is the “FahrradTagesTicket NRW” under the NRW tariff. It is valid for the entire day, allowing unlimited rides. The FahrradTagesTicket NRW applies to all public transportation in NRW (buses, trams, and regional trains). Price: €5.10.
- There is also the “NRWupgradeFahrrad,” a subscription valid for a calendar month. It can be canceled monthly and has no minimum contract term. The subscription is non-transferable, and bicycle transport is available throughout the day for unlimited rides during the month. Price: €39.00.
Germany
- For nationwide bicycle transport on regional trains, there is the “Fahrradtageskarte” under the Germany-wide tariff. This ticket allows unlimited bicycle transport for an entire day. The Fahrradtageskarte is only valid on regional trains and not on buses or trams. To take your bicycle on buses and trams, you must purchase an additional bicycle ticket from the relevant transport association. Price of the Fahrradtageskarte: €6.00.
I bought a Bicycle Ticket. Does that guarantee I can take my bike with me?
In North Rhine-Westphalia, the transport conditions for bicycles are regulated by the NRW Transport Terms and Conditions. Bicycles are generally only transported if there is sufficient capacity and space available. If the designated bike spaces on a vehicle are occupied, additional passengers with bicycles will not be allowed to board. The personnel have the authority to decide whether there is still space available. Purchasing a Bicycle Ticket does not guarantee the transportation of your bicycle. Additionally, individuals with mobility restrictions (e.g., wheelchair users or passengers with strollers) have priority over cyclists.
Where can I buy a bicycle ticket?
You can purchase the FahrradTagesTicket24 and the 30-TageTicket Fahrrad of the WestfalenTarif, as well as the FahrradTagesTicket NRW, at ticket machines, on buses, in customer service centers, online, or via the transport companies’ apps. The WestfalenTarif FahrradAbo and the NRWupgradeFahrrad must be ordered directly from the local transport company, either online or at the customer service center. The daily bicycle ticket for use on regional trains throughout Germany can be purchased at the railway companies’ ticket machines, in DB travel centers, or via the railway companies’ apps.
Is the Deutschlandticket also valid for 1st class?
No, with the Deutschlandticket, you may only use 2nd class on regional trains. An additional ticket is required to use 1st class.
Can I use the ticket for on-demand services?
The Deutschlandticket is valid for the entire regional transport network, including services like on-demand transport, TaxiBus, and AST. Any additional charges—just as with other tickets—must be paid in addition to the Germany Ticket.
Can I use the ticket for multimodal offers like bike or scooter sharing?
If multimodal offers are integrated into the regional transport fare, the Deutschlandticket also allows you to use these services. Any additional charges—just as with other tickets—must be paid in addition to the Germany Ticket.
Does the Deutschlandticket have a minimum contract term?
The Deutschlandticket has no minimum contract term. It is valid for one month and renews automatically until it is canceled.
What is the Deutschlandsemesterticket?
The Deutschlandsemesterticket is a discounted Deutschlandticket exclusively available for students. To obtain the Deutschlandsemesterticket, a contract must be established between the General Student Committees (AStA) or university administrations and a transport company.
What are the ticket features of the Deutschlandsemesterticket?
The Deutschlandsemesterticket follows the nationwide uniform ticket features of the regular Deutschlandticket. The Deutschlandsemesterticket has a fixed term of one semester and cannot be canceled on a monthly basis.
What does the Deutschlandsemesterticket cost?
The Deutschlandsemesterticket costs 60% of the regular Deutschlandticket fare per month. Currently, this amounts to €29.40 per month.
How do I get the Deutschlandsemesterticket?
The Deutschlandsemesterticket will be issued by universities to their students starting in the summer semester of 2024, provided a contract has been established between the General Student Committees (AStA) or university administrations and a transport company.

What is the Semester Ticket Upgrade?
Colleges and universities in the WestfalenTarif area can choose between a contract for the Deutschlandsemesterticket or the existing regional semester tickets. If no semester ticket contract is established for the Deutschlandsemesterticket, students can purchase a monthly upgrade to the Deutschlandticket for their regional semester ticket.
Where and how do I get the upgrade?
Students can order an upgrade online, for example, via the site https://www.ots-nrw.de/. The following information is required for purchase: student ID number, college/university, and the location of the college/university.
Until when is the Semester Ticket Upgrade available?
The Semester Ticket Upgrade can still be purchased through the winter semester of 2024/2025.
What does the upgrade to the Deutschlandticket cost?
The price is determined by the difference between the semester ticket fee and the Deutschlandticket price. For example, if the semester ticket fee is 150 euros per semester, this equates to 25 euros per month. In this case, the difference to be paid for the Deutschlandticket would be 24 euros.
